new baby due in july.... how young is to young? and what about prego. boating? is the next summer a total boating loss?

I agree. Our little girl was about 4 weeks on her first boat ride. We would take the "clip-in" style car seat and lay her in that between the 2 front seats. (would not buckle her into it though) I will say that essentially all of our boat riding for the first year or so was mostly lake boating (in the 100 mph Allison though :O)

She was probably 2-3 months for her first 80+ mph burst. To this day, she loves the boat (either one) and if she's cranky or tired all I gotta do is fire the boat up and take her for a ride. She's out like a light. BTW, she'll be 7 in Feb.

When my wife was prego we went regularly.....went out on a Sunday, she gave birth on that Tuesday.....3 weeks later we had our baby boy out with us. Just remember the baby dictates those first boat rides. We figured we might get out for 20 minutes and realize we would have to go back in...as long as you go prepared to call it a very short day things just might go well for you. (BTW: we were out 4-5 hours but in fair conditions/slow speeds)

By 3 months old we were spending the night out on the hook....at 11 months we took him on a 5 day trip of over 250 miles....came home in 6ft seas in a 26ft bayliner!!!!! (wife freaked, baby slept)

My son was 8 months old when he started boating; he did absolutely great; actually the motion of the water and the sound of thru-hull was the perfect scenario for a great long nap.
My daughter was 5 months old when she started boating and no issues for her.
They both wore lil' mustang infant life vest and my wife held them with the help of an infant hip hammock.
With my daughter, who's birtday is in December, my wife basically spent the whole boating season (6 months) pregnant, and had no issues.

dr. told me and wife when she was 1 month old we could take her on the boat . but you have to use comon sence no rough riding when baby on board

What about noise?

That would be my big concern with a young one.....

When mine was an infant, and she got fussy we would lay her in the back seat of the Allison and fire up the motor. She'd go right to sleep. Not a big block but a 2.5/260 with offshore dump isn't the quietest thing either.

I boated every weekend up until my son was born, this was the only time he didn't kick the hell out of...

This year he was out on the boat every weekend, starting at 6 months only because the boat was winterized or he would have been out as a baby!!

We would being the infant car seat and I had a Bumbo on the boat for him to sit in to play....

He started swim lessons at 5 months too - Never too early!

I took my daughter boating for the first time when she was 5 months old, no issues at all. We boated the whole first summer my wife was preg without any issues.
