Default What fuel pump?

I have an odd set up with a mech. and electric pump. Then elec. feeds the mech. and goes from there. What is the best pump to run 750 and have some left over rather not run the pump to its bitter end. Is there a mech. that will do it? Any one using race pumps or electric only way to go so you can wire it to cut out for oil pressure loss. Something like an A1000? How many GPH do i need
thanks
-Mike

I had the same setup as you. Mechanical on my seapump feeding my electric Holleys. I removed the mechanical fuel pump because of failures. Gas diluting oil. And after 2 Holley electric fuel pumps failures I went to Mallory Marine 140's. I am at 600hp. I mounted them LOW in my bilge. Electric fuel pumps are designed to push fuel not draw fuel. They work great. I got mine off e-bay for under $100

I like the electric with the relays and tied into the oil system.

Thumbs up Claysmith Fuel pump !!

no need for electrical pump only $125.00
1300 HP Fuel Pump

Clay Smith Engineering, home of the Original 6 valve pump, often copied but never equalled. A custom fuel pump to solve fuel supply problems for your R.V., performance or racing engines. You no longer need costly dual pumps to do the job one Clay Smith Power Pumper can easily do better.

Manufactured to stringent specifications by Clay Smith, this pump surpasses any known mechanical fuel pump on the market today for efficiency and reliability. Each Clay Smith Power Pumper is built fromexclusively designed components and is engineered to provide superior performance and unbeatable durability.

These pumps will supply 14 -16 PSI fuel pressure and pump 140 GPH (Gallons Per Hour), freeflow, through their specially designed 6-valve body. This massive flow will easily handle even the largest size Dominator carburetors, on gas or alcohol.

The stock Merc mechanical pump will support 2 ) 750 holleys on a 420 blower with no problem.
I used the stock one also on my blown 502 with a 1050 Dominator. Pressure never flinched.

The CV Products mechanical pump supports 750+ HP at less than 7.5 LBS and more than 6 lbs ay WOT without a regulator. Order it with the green spring. It is a little pricey, but the last pump you will need to buy.

CV Products, Thomasville, NC.
Call Allen, Here's what I use. Billet mechanical pump either block mount or sea waterpump mount. 100% rebuild. They have different psi= volume. I have never had to back up a mech. pump with a electric. expect to spend about 400
