Default Head Gaskets

What are the thoughts on the best head gaskets brand and material.

I am building ~500 horsepower 454's. They are 0.030 over. What are the thoughts on copper? What size gasket diameter should I uses for a 4.280 bore?

Thanks

i use the fel pro marine gasgets on every bbc marine engine from stock to supercharged.gasget bore needs to be at least .010 larger than cylinder bore.i only use copper on all out dragrace engines with reciever groove &o rings.

Personally, I only use Cometic gaskets.

I use both Felpro and Cometic but for your application Felpro marine gaskets are all you need.

I would not use copper, my race engines use them and they seep water, not needed in that felpro's work fine...

Felpro blue teflon composite gaskets are all you need for this application. Anything more is a waste of money. Copper is a headache that only super high boost requires.

Patiryacht hit the nail on the head on every point. I love the Cometics, but they are just not needed in your application. The correct Fel Pro gasket for your application will have a 4.320 bore size, I believe.
