Yes it's the G56(would rather it be the NV5600). I have the G56 in my 2006 dually. Gear Vendors and US Gear have overdrive units for this transmission.

The 2010 Ram is a much better truck in every area than all that came before it. Here is the Truck Trend article;

Just drove 2 of them.. dooley and single wheel 1 ton.. I have to tell you.. it's ok, and really didnt impress me as much as I expected. As to looks, won me over, as to interior, much improved in creature comforts, heated seats in front and rear, cooled seats in front, heated steering wheel, killer Infinity system..loved all this...
now the just ok...seats were too firm, borderline uncomfortable for someone who spends all day or 30k per year in their truck and dash still had the cheap feel with bad looking wood grain, inexpensive knobs. I was unimpressed with their touted.. isolated 4 corner mounts in frame to make cabin quieter and ride softer...over rated as well. Suspension way to hard. Now the power..I like the 6, still is noisier and slightly rougher vs the v-8's, tranny shifted nicely, and tow haul worked ok, didnt slow truck down as much as my Ford or GMC until I added the additional jake brake which then more than made up for it. Really liked this feature. In a 36 mile loop, city and highway...by the lie-o-meter I averaged 15.1.. slightly better than my Ford and about the same on my GMC Duramax. Would I buy one.. possibly.. what scares me is the CO. itself, whether they will pay the $ back.. and then comes resale..which Dodge is on the bottom of the 3 big guys...

I'm going to wait till my ordered Ford comes in, and then decide if I want another GMC or try the Dodge. Just my .02 cents. Jeff

The articles I've read by people who have driven them say the hydroform stops at least 90% of chassis vibrations and wheel hop has been much reduced. I had the Infinity system on my 2003 3500srw and it really sounded great and the steering wheel controls were much appreciated too, wish I had it on this one. Dodge should have done the interior upgrade years ago when the 6.7 came out. I love the exterior styling too.

I'll drive one next week and report my findings. As to the resale value, this redo should greatly improve that. Besides, people who buy these trucks for work generally put hundreds of thousands of miles on them. They don't trade them every year.

I hope they do the upgrades to the 4500-5500s because I really want the 4500 to tow the 16,000lb RV.

I hope to drive one tomorrow. I have to call and find one, there aren't as many Dodge dealers in DFW now, but there are at least three within 20 miles so one of them should have a Laramie dually.

Over all its a very nice truck.,.big improvement for Dodge.. If I just didnt drive duallys all day or had nothing to compare it to I would have been happy with the ride. When we left the dealership and back in the F350 my wife was the first to chime in about the hard seats and ride..Im keeping the duallys in service..just picked up a F150...after I drove all 3 half tons. Really like it.

Well I've read four articles on the 2010 and all of them mention how close to a half ton it rides like. Maybe the hydroform units didn't get installed in the one you drove. After all, it's built in Mexico.

But you know once you put a load behind a dually the ride smooths out so you shouldn't let that stop you from getting a Dodge. And should you ever want to change motors in your F350s the Cummins is the one for that.

Edit-Well I decided to take my vicious dog-killers to the dog park instead of driving a demo truck. They really needed the romp time after being cooped up so long during the snowstorm and they had lots of fun.

Cat, both trucks I drove had the hydrofoil mounts at the 4 corners...both ride stiffer than my F350 dually and single wheel...and my Fords ride stiffer than my Duramax's...It in NO WAY rides anything like F150 I just picked up or even close to the 1/2 ton Dodge I drove on tuesday..CAUSE i ALMOST BOUGHT THAT ONE. MY NEIGHBOR OWNS A dODGE AND fORD DEALERSHIP ..SO i DRIVE THESE TRUCKS ALL THE TIME WHEN iM IN SERVICE.. sorry about caps.

Drove a 4x4 auto SLT today. The ride is MUCH better than mine and I love everything about the interior, but I know now why the 6.7 guys are taking the emissions stuff off their trucks. 12-13 hwy mpg is shocking. Why would anybody buy a diesel that gets that poor mileage unless it's for towing heavy.

I would get one with the manual trans and a mileage chip like the HyperMax.
