I pulled my pro charged 502 last fall. Wanted to freshen it up for this coming season. When I dropped the pan I found a frozen chuck of ice in the oil. NO GOOD.. Motor ran fine when I pulled it.. What do you think??

You are really just going to have to take it all the way down and check everything to be sure of the problem. I just found our I had two cracked 540 blocks in my boat, very expensive day. And now I have some nice paperweights, lol. Thought no matter what is wrong with yours that might make you feel a bit better

Not sure what the temps are where your at however was it winterized OK. Any signs of bad head gasket. Were all the freeze plugs in right and not pushing out? If the block is cracked more than like you'll see it when you pull the intake. Look above the lifter galley on both sides of the block. Otherwise when you pull the heads you see it there also. Keep us informed.

The head gasket, if bad, you'll identify it right away. It will be obivous and you'll see where water was passing through. Look around the water passages/ports. I don't think it's a head gasket. Lets hope so. Did you pull your heads yet? Any gasket I have blown most often resulted in the water blowing out the exhaust. How big was the ice chunk?

ice was about 5'' long 2.5"wide 3/8 thick..
popped heads off tonight--- no visible damage, going to tear down and take to machine shop this weekend.. Frost plugs all intact.. Could it be an exhaust manifold???
