I've never had a TRS drive before, so I'm not well informed about them.
It's a 1980 Excalibur w/ (I assume) original TRS drive.
The drive moves VERY slow (up and down). Is this normal?
Does the pump need servicing of some kind when it get slow like this or is there a common/known problem I should know to check?
Thank you.

I had the same problem with my boat when I bought it. My TRS drives were somewhat slow. I tore the the trim motors apart and cleaned up any oxidation inside and around the copper coils. I replaced the worn out brushes. I got the brushes at the local alternator/starter rebuild shop. I also ran new + and - wires to my pumps. This helped considerably.

I had a similar problem but I had one of my TRS drives that wouldn't go up as high as the other side. Pulled and cleaned pumps but still had the same problem. Bled the line and problem solved.
