I just got a 2000 29 outlaw w/ 502's stock with 26 bravo 1 props and K-planes. Too cold to run it hard right now. What kind of speed should I get with this set up? Seems like I don't see a lot talk about this outlaw with the 502's, only 454's. Any feedback is appreciated.

Im thinking low to mid 70s if they are 415 horse. I had a 29 with 454s that had 385 horse and it ran 68 69

I'm running 7.4 MPI's (310 measly HP) with Mirage 23's and hit 65 GPS. I would love to have 502's.

Why is it too cold to run it hard? It should run better in cold weather. Wasn't it just above freezing when Reggie did his high speed run?

Yes, would be great on the motors, just can't get motivated to go run all out in this cold weather, killer windchill.

At LEAST the water isn't still hard where you are and there isn't a foot of snow on the ground, I would GLADLY deal with the windchill to go boating in February!!!

Somethings wrong with my GPS then. My 454 Mags. with 26 labed bravos runs right at 72 mph

There is only 30 HP difference between the 502mag & 454mag.

Mercury Marine has a "plus or minus" up to 10% on there HP ratings. During testing at Baja we seen some difference between the carbed 454 Mag, and the 502 Mag 390 hp. But I remember fudging engineering speed charts between the 454 Mag MPI 385 HP, and the 502 Mag MPI 415 HP because the testing was showing such close results. We had to show some kind of increase because we had to charge more money for the 502 option. I saw many test sheets that had higher speeds for the 454 MPI engine. Our Merc rep even confirmed that many 454 MPI'S made more than the rated HP, and the 502's were hard pressed to get their rating. I am sure some will argue this opinion, but I just thought it might be interesting?
