Default 2009 6.4 Powerstroke.....Best Programmer?

Hi all,
Just traded my 2007 6.0 for a 2009 6.4 pstroke. Which handheld tuners are you 6.4 guys running? I mainly want to increase mileage and am not interested in the dpf delete (even though it is tempting). Curious to see what power gains you have experienced too! Thanks
Tyler

Ive had them all..Edge, Quadzilla, HyperTech, Superchips..etc...You want a tune that works together with the Ford transmission and the best is SCT..and Eric is a custom tune. You will get 3 loaded tunes from Innovative Diesel.. Eric has done 9 of my trucks, they have worked great..If you change something he can send the tune through the computer.

They also have exhaust, turbo and or cat back exhaust..you name it they have it.. Good Luck. Jeff

Why didn't you trade for the 2011 with the new Scorpion?

How did u like the '07? I'm looking at one and want to hear owners opinions. Did they solve the problems with the heads for that year?

I believe they did....I had no trouble with mine. I bought it new and traded with 75k on it. With an intake, tuner, and turbo back exhaust i was getting about 16mpg with 6" lift and 35" tires. I do believe the egr cooler was just starting to leak when I traded though....

Thanks for the info guys, I think I'll buy it now. I heard horror stories on the '03-'04's, a few problems with '05, but it sounds like they made huge improvements on the '06-'07's.

correct 3's and 4's had more problems..5's were improved head studs and thats when they went to springs in the front for a better ride as well. 6's and 7's more changes were made internally for the better. 8's are when the 6.4 came out..I had no problems per say other than they replaced some dripping fluid that I noticed after I read a thread on here..they actually replaced the entire cooling system at no charge..The 08 6.4 Truck was awesome..I really enjoyed it. Pulled the NorTech well...and I left it completely stock.
For anyone that has a 6.0 Be careful on the 6.0's that if you use a programmer be light on the tune, keep your foot out of it all the time..they will blow head gaskets..my 05 did last week..210k miles of pulling trailers and just a tow tune..

you say head studs...Ford never to my knowledge put studs in.... they just came up with a different gasket and torque on the bolts. I will say any 6.0 if you are going to run a tuner needs studs. From what my service man says, it's just a matter of time on any truck before the bolts stretch. Just added the studs to mine, but I am running an sct. because you said to give them a call.. Thanks it has been great fun with that tuner.
