Default Can you remember your first boating question on OSO?

OSO has been around for a long long time......can you remember what the first BOATING related question was you asked here on OSO? I can remember how intimidating it was to ask that first question. Good thing I had some friends on here already to say nice things like "WTF....are you stupid?" (DEVIL MAN), and "Norty....you are a DAP" (Jeffrey).

Ever since then, I've never asked another question (just kidding)!!!

My thread question was: "How do you measure how much oil is in your boat?"

You can imagine the answers I got for a response. Things like I mentioned above, but also "your boat should not have oil in it" as well as detailed instructions to "open the engine hatch, carefully look for a knob that says OIL.......". Anyway, the point to my question was should you measure the oil while on the trailer at the gas station, or while the boat is in the water. Funniest part is....I can't remember the answer so I'll wait for someone else to ask.

What was your first boating question......how did it go?

Nort Trailer or water it does not matter as long as you are on a level ground. You are still a DAP however.

My first question was in the old old board and it had something to do with TRS drives I think.

The boat sits at a different angle on the trailer as on the water.....and where can you find level ground on the water?

Yes I can...I was looking for feedback on the purchase of a new 28'ish boat. Wound up with a new 28' Nordic and it turned out to be a very nice boat thanks to the feedback received. There were some of the obvious wars between the "brand homer" owners but every once in a while an owner could look at his/her boat objectively and tell me the pluses and minuses of their 28. Doesn't happen often though, I found out that most defend their choice of boat even if down deep they feel differently. I've always tried to reciprocate in the honesty area regarding telling others that have asked about a certain boat I have owned.

"What's this long red string with the clip on it for?"

I can't remember exactly, but it could have been the above.

Mine was, "How come my boat is so small and all those SCOPE guys' boats are so big?".

I think Schulte answered it saying something about compensating for something!
