Angry Bravo One Trim Up Not Working

My Bravo One will not trim up. I push the trim up button and nothing happens. Trim down works. I have to hit the trailer button to get the engine up. I cleaned all wire connections. Any ideas?

check the solenoid relays on the pump. try tapping them with a screw driver just to see if they are stuck. I think they only cost $20 or so. they are east to change

Sounds like the trim limit switch. It is one of the ear muffs on the gimbal ring. The one with TL on it (the other one is TP, that is for the gauge). If you pull it off, also make sure the hinge pin is tight.

Yup , like marc said, the trailer button bypasses the trim limit switch. If it works with the trailer button, then the switch is the culprit ( or the wiring, sometimes if gets pinched in the bell housing.)

Trim limit switch for sure. That's the one on the port (left) side or the outdrive. They aren't too much fun to change and Merc wil make you buy the whole kit including trim position sender. (rather pricey for what little you need. Have had to buy the whole kit myself for the TS part so I have the part you need leftover and you can have it. But for an easy fix--find the small black and small black/purple wires at the trim pump with seperate round connectors. Unplug them, create a wire jumper plug and connect the female ends. That gives you full trin and tilt range with your trim switch. Carefull now! There will be no cutout point anymore but it gets you by till you get it fixed right. e-mail me if you want that part and I'll send it to you. You can owe me a brew sometime. --- Jer

Make sure all the wires are tight, had one come loose on me once. Took me out of boating for a day until I figured it out.

If it is an older model like mine you can service the limit switch contacts by removing the four screws on the limit switch housing on the gimbal ring. Newer units do not have the removeable cover.

Talking Thanks to all

Thanks to everyone who responded for all the valuable info. The boat is a '97 Scarab 22' that I'm trying to sell and I want to make sure everything works. Special thanks to JPC for your offer. I might take you up on it. I've never touched an outdrive so I don't know what's involved or the tools I need. I would probably make things worse. I do have a manual but I think it's for a '96.

Easy to fix, just take the black plastic housing off the drive, clean it and if you need a new one call the bravo shop, they gave me the best deals!
