Default How long trailer tongue?

I've realized that my SFT aluminum trailer may be a little short for the boat. We all know the bunks need to extend past the transom, but is there a specific length the tongue shoutd be?
Is it a matter of "if the bow doesn't hit your truck when you pull into QuickTrip, you're good" ?

I am no expert but I always thought tongue weight is what really matters and it should be pretty light.

I've always heard 5-7% of the total load. Steve
