I am installing water pressure gauges and the kit comes with about 12' of the cheap plastic 1/8 inch hose. It also has compression fittings. What is everyone else doing.

I personally used the plastic hose that comes with it and ran it inside of a Pex tube (a few bucks at Home Depot) down the side of the boat to protect it. On each end of the pex, I put it inside of convuluted tubing routing it to the engine. You can protect it pretty well that way.
I know some prefer to use copper tubing, but it seems that it would kink easily whereas the plastic stuff would typically bounce back.

The white nylon tubing is ideal for the use. It does not expand under the pressure, rust, corrode or rot out. Use it and if you need more, just go to the local auto parts place and get air shock line. Same stuff.
Try to take the pressure reading high on the motor. Using the block drain holes usually plugs the line with rust after a period of time.

I have always just used the 1/8 hard plastic tubing. No problem with it other than it can plug up pretty easy using the block drains. I actaully drilled out my lower fitting so the tube go into the engine about an inch and that helped a lot. I have quite a bit of tubing if you need some more. I replaced mine once and had to buy a 100' roll when I got it locally.
