Hi guys. I just picked up a 98 25 Outlaw.. it is in pretty good shape. $$ was right. it has a 454 Magnum MPI in it.
The MPH seems a bit slow..with 1/2 tank gas and 2 big people and 2 kids, it goes 56 MPH at 4600 RPM (GPS).
IS it just loaded up alot or should it do better?. the engine was redone just 15 hours ago, all stock rebuild. it has the Mirage 23P prop on it, it looks to have some wear on it so I'm sure a little rework on the prop will help some..
any input is appreciated

Congrats...You should post some pics. I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses from people with your similar boat and set up.
But I think your in the proper range for your engine. 4600 rpms is a little low Max RPM's is 5000 on a 454Mag (385 hp). Pretty sure Merc Manuel has Max RPM range on a 454mag 4600-5000. But you are already running a 23pitch prop so not sure you would want to change that. Again, someone will chime in.
I'm sure you know, but were you trimmed up properly. A lot of times you can get to your proper RPM's by simply trimming correctly if your setup is right.
Good luck! and Congrats!
Another site to check out is Teambajamarine.com There is a lot of Drama between OSO and TeamBaja, but I find them both good sites for finding/giving info on our beloved money pits....

I will post sum pics soon.. it is in for service(oil change). I like it alot as we dont get beat to death on other boats wake..its fun
I am also thinking about supercharging it too.. Were big time turbo bike builders so forced induction is our bag..also looks like the best bang for the buck as far as more power is concerned lol

dont waste your time at TBM you can find anything you want right here there are a few of the old baja guys here that used to build the boats and still have access to most of the old suppliers for oem baja parts you wont find that on TBM

As I recall, the 385 25 O/L's I had seat time in would run a tick over 60 right around 5k with a 23p Mirage +.
Get your RPM's up in that neighborhood and you'll be there.
Early in the season, dont rule out stale gas causing the
problem ( if it sat all winter with gas in it)
If it was a stock rebuild, ( engine was out of the boat) look for rigging errors ( throttle cable not adjusted so w.o.t is not achieved, spark plug wires not on tight, kinked fuel hose, etc)
As Ed said, don't waste your time at TBM.
About the only technical advise you'll get there is
how to change a sea pump impeller.

Team baja marine sucks. They banned a bunch of us for being better looking & smarter than the site owner.
As for the boat issue, make sure you're triming properly. If you need help we all have been there at one time & will be glad to help, no matter how simple or complex the issue.

Great/.. thanks for the warm welcome.
I'm pretty new to a bigger boat like this and trimming is something i need to figure out still.
Ill check the linkage, the motor did get a full rework, so I understand things don't always go back where they should.
