My alt is not charging on one engine. I'm looking into rebuilding it but I'm confused on the part #. its a delco 12 volt 50 amp # 19020703 875285.
the #'s comes up as a 2.5 merc outboard alt and also comes up as a 575 sci merc????I have an 02 engine going by the serial #.I am going to check the other engine tomorrow for the alt #. Is it poss that merc used the same alts in different engines,I/O's and O/B's????? What do you guys reconmend,rebuild or replace? if replace do you go with an aftermarket brand alt? thanks

If you decide to replace it (I would) check out DB Electric. They have great prices and also offer high output replacements. I've got their 140amp 1 wire on mine.

you should be able to walk up the street to any alternator shop and have them fix that cheap. short of all the marine bs , all the internals are off the shelf generic.

Yes, they did use the same alternater on more than one motor. You will have everyone tell you about all these alternators that are bigger and better but they will not fit. Go to db electrical and order one and be done with it.

+1 on DB got mule starter for less than $100 oem over $500 n seadoo starter for less than $100. I didn't even price oem.

at 111 bucks you can't go wrong... but i would still have the old one fixed and have it next to the spare props on board.
