Default Hey you Duramax guys(you know who you are)

Found this in the May issue of Diesel Power;

"Randy's Engine and Machine has released its Gorilla Girdle for '01-09 Duramax engines. This product increases the 6.6L's block rigidity and tensional stiffness by tying all the main bearing caps together with the oil pan rail".

"Randy's engine claims its girdle will decrease friction in the main bearings by providing better overall alignment of the piston and crankshaft bores. The Gorilla Girdle applies a more even load distribution across the main bearing caps and virtually eliminates any main cap 'walk'".

Yeah I saw that. If I ever decide to tear my motor down that far it would be a good thing to install that part, which is why I posted this thread. That was my point Mr. Anger.

Sorry.....I took your original post as a slam on Duramax's. Like a suggestion of some inherent weakness that exists and needs to be addressed. Truth is, all current diesels produce massive torque, and would probably benefit from some strengthening.

If any diesel needed slamming it's the Powerstroke. But maybe now after three iterations, the new 6.7 Scorpion will finally be the motor Ford was hoping Navistar could build but never did.

The Dmax has only been improved through the years. Now it makes great power-397/765-and great fuel mileage. Through Banks Marine Engineering, the 800hp/900tq 5800rpm twin turbo supercharged Dmax will revolutionize performance boating. I have nothing bad to say about the Dmax. It's the best all-around diesel on the market right now.

Yes I love my Cummins, but it's not a high revver like the DMax. Without a doubt it can make big power, but it's more of a towing/hauling motor than the DMax or Powerstroke.

Nice find! This new software will open up all kinds of possibilities, but Beans needs to get a handle on their smoke problem. I just posted there as dieseldog00.

A 900+ single charger truck is going to smoke like crazy,and it is a sled pulling truck at that. I don't think that there stand alone ecm (zues) is what they are calling it is out yet. Im pretty sure they are still working the bugs out. The new smarty is in beta testing is supposed to be pretty wild also but it is not as in depth as the zues when it come to tuning. Sorry for the high jack.

I was surprised to learn that there are no tuners for the 2010 Ram yet. I asked why on cumminsforum and they said the ECU is different. Smarty and some others are working on it though.
