If you want to join the fight to have the Speed Limit repealed then join us at Safe Boaters of New Hampshire. I have stated on here before the limits were merely an attempt to Eliminate Performance Boats from the Lake and had nothing to do with safety.
The fight to repeal starts now. Check out Safe Boaters and get involved if you want the limits removed.

Just an FYI...the Head of the Marine Patrol which is the organization charged with enforcing the laws on Winni testified at the House Transportation Committee Hearing earlier this year that the Limits would probably not have an effect on Safety since I quote: --------"The most important things about boating are good seamanship and good manners."
-----------------------
Gov Lynch made it official and signed the bill for Permanent Speed Limits on Winnipesaukee.
The Limits are 45mph day and 30mph at night.
Any violations also will be reported to the DMV and go on your driving record.
Here is the article:
Lynch signs permanent Lake Winnipesaukee speed limits into law
Monday, June 28, 2010
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch says he has signed a bill to make boat speed limits permanent on the state's largest lake.
The bill sets the daytime limit on Lake Winnipesaukee at 45 mph and the nighttime limit at 30 mph.
The bill also makes permanent a requirement for the marine patrol to report violations to the division of motor vehicles for inclusion in the violator's driving record.
The Legislature set speed limits for two years starting in 2009 to test whether they were a good idea. Critics of the move to make them permanent say lawmakers should wait until the study is completed to act.
===========================
If you disagree with the need for limits on Winni, then Please contact your Representatives and Senators and let them know. Also reach out to an organization like Safe Boaters of New Hampshire.

Really disappointed with our lawmakers and governor who supported this bill. I did a little research and can't find any other state that has a fulltime - lake-wide speed limit.....so much for our 'Live Free or Die State"! Anybody out there know of another decent sized lake that has a 24/7 lakewide speed limit?

Totally crazy I might be able to appreciate it on holiday weekends or maybe try it only weekends. All boaters should boycott the lake for a week or so and watch all the businees owners get involved.

do a google search "lakes with speed limits"
you would be suprised, thats why I think everyone should get involved when ANY TYPE of regulation is imposed, whether its loud music, loud boats, speed limits..
Because one law brings another brings another,etc..
We already have WAY too much goverment in our lives.
They just passed a noise oridnance in our party cove "no music to be heard over 100ft from source"
Only 3 people (me an two others) showed up to fight it,, well it passed, then they passed a no tow (no wakeboarding, tubing, skiing) in same area and already are talking about "those loud cigarette boats"
Give an inch and they will take your whole pecker..

Lake George NY. Not only do they have speed limits, they have noise limits too. Plus you have to PAY a permit fee to use the lake, even if you could walk on water..
Noise Limits
Lake George is narrow and surrounded by steep mountains amplifying noise levels. Do your part to keep volume down. Present limits are 86 decibels when measured not more than 50 feet from the vessel; 80 decibels from 100 feet or more.
Speed Limits
Near shore maximum is 5 mph within 100 feet of shore, dock or stationary boats, rafts, floats, etc. On the main lake: Daytime limit (6am-9pm) is 45mph; Night limit (9pm-6am) is 25 mph. Remember: Safe boaters travel at more conservative speeds.

This time around the supporters of the law allegedly sent 10 emails for the limits to every 1 against.
I have a friend in the NH House and he told me I was the only person who asked him to vote against it and his district is no where near Lake Winni.
I cant stress the point enough that if you want this law to change-get invovled and check out.
