Electric brake conversion??
#1
I am interested in conversion of my trailer to have electrically operated hydraulic brakes. Is this an add on to or replacement of the hitch master cylinder? Where is a good source for this? What has anyones else's results been? Is this a good solution to a "heavy rig" = 10,000# triple axle trailer ???

I converted my surge brakes to Vaccum/hydraulic. Same thing you are talking about except that I'm using engine vaccum to actuate the system insted of electric actuater. I just welded the surge brake actuater up so that it couldn't move because it was welded to the trailer and didn't want to cut the tongue off the trailer and reweld a coupler on it. Having a brake system that you can control from inside the truck is much better than just surge brakes. ie. you can control a jack-knifing trailer.
