Noob here! Ayone know the max you want to trim the drives out on a 32 Fountain with HP 500's at speed. I was thinking 3.5 or so just so the u-joints, etc are not compromised.

Trim it up until stop gaining speed or the boat gets too loose.

3 is neutral in most fountains mine maxes out at a little over 5 . you can get the test drive report from fountain just give them a call. it gives all the specks on your boat. like grif said set your gps at a speed trim out slow till you drop some speed.

Thx for the feedback. I did not know if there was a certain point when too much trim (out) angle would affect the longevity of the drives. Mine seems to want to run nose down naturally anyway

Do you have the original 32 or a newer one with a step in it? The non-stepped version needs more trim, but the advice you have already been given about trimming up until it either starts to gain RPM's (props starting to blow out) or gets stupid (too much trim) is correct with either hull. When you hit either condition, trim back just a bit.

Another thing about smaller Fountains is that they came from the factory with a set of limiting collars installed on the trim tabs. These forced the bow down a bit - even at zero trim. If you know how to dive a loose boat, they can come out and gain about a mile or two an hour.

Mines at 5, or just a little over.

The boat will porpoise and loose speed well before you get to that point.
