My buddy has a 1990 27' Bayliner that has lots of issues, but the main one seems to be the prop. It has a Bravo One 1.5 on it and a Mirage 19". The damn thing can barely get on plan and turns 4500rpm from 18 -28mph with the 454 300 Hp it has. Its slipping badly, but doent overrev. Shouldn't he have some other prop on there? I see old cruzers with large diamemter props that look like elephant ears. I dont know what make those larger props are.

I went out with him this weekend and pulled the prop off. It turned out to be a laser 19". I switch to an aluminum 17 with a much larger diameter. It was actually worse. Then I found a backup prop in the boat. It was a 19" similar to a mirage, but seemed to have bigger ears with less swept back design to it. Bottom line is the boat ran good. 34mph at 4400, so I think it must be a 2.0 ratio. The previous owner gave us all bad specs.

In the off season I’ll get him to send it over to you. The prop can use some minor work and labbing to get the most out of it.
