I just installed my 496 back into the boat and I noticed that the trim up isn't working yet the trailer trim is. I can trim down.
I think I have a connection that is incorrect or just not connected. I have been searching around on the harness but have yet to see the problem. It is a bit cramped and looks like a rats nest of wiring. Any step in the right direction is appreciated!

Pair of black wires coming out of the transom plate for the trim limit switch.
Must have missed them

I got those for sure. The engine side of that connection also had a blue wire. I don't recall if that was connected to anything prior to removal. It is unplugged right now.

The trailer mode bypasses the limit switch so it's prob in the limit switch or switc wiring
But you prob know that
Disconnect 2 wires tcid:95499CFBD3EB413F8FAB5074ABF5B8CB@billPCo switch and put demon it and see if it shows open
Then take and jumper wire to switch together see if it goes up

Mine was doing the exact same thing... The trim limit switch was all corroded and not making contact inside the switch. Took it apart, and with some WD-40 and scotchbrite, cleaned all the corrosion off and polished the contacts and whala, it worked again. Of course then you will have to readjust it. Good luck. Of course then my trim indicator switch started screwing up to and it was the same thing but much harder to clean and much more complicated. It still screws up every now and then.
