Default Hydromotive QIV vs QIV-X

I have a QIV-X & was thinking of trying a QIV in the same pitch. Looking to lower slip & slightly drop RPMs (50-100rpms). Anyone have experience comparing the two?

They are completely different props. It depends on your boat as to which one is better for it.

The Q4 is a semi cleaver style... and is a stern lifting prop.
The Q4x is very very similar to a Bravo prop, but is 15" in diameter, and available in 1" pitch increments.

Any guess on what the rpm drop would be?

In my experience... a 28 Q4x only spun about 50 rpm more than a stock 28 Bravo. The Q4x was faster on my boat by about 2-3 mph. I run a 1.34 gear ratio.

Q4 is 15.5" in diameter.
The Q4X is 15" propeller copy of the Bravo 1.
High X dimention boats with natural bow lift can benefit from the Q4. Boats needing more reaction to trim are better off with the Q4X.

My boat has huge afterpods molded into the hull that extend 28” past the transom. As a result the pods drag w/ bow lifting props. Do you feel the stern lifting QIV would be worth a try or is there something I’m missing? The drive is deep (8.5”)

Maybe..................

There are a lot of unknowns here.
Just a couple would be, what boat do you own and what power is in it? LOL
It seems folks do have answers though.
This sounds similar to a application we/BBLADES started to talk with earlier this year.
Tell us more or give us a call.
