Anyone have any luck removing stainless pins from K-Planes that are stuck. Any solvent that works good in loosening from the aluminum? Tried WD-40 and other penetrating oil no luck.

I've heated and pressed them before.

take mine out with a slide hammer...Made a rod with 7/16 fine tap, works very well! Ken

I would have thought that heating would expand the aluminum

+1, with it still attached to the boat! light tap's tho..

If you have them off the boat then you can fold them and cut the pins between the two plates with a hacksaw. Then you only have to deal with the smaller sections and it is less likely that you will break off a portion of the allum. tabs. Use heat as well. I tried to press mine out in one piece and broke off one of the ears.

They can be a real pain especially if they've been in salt.

Loaded mine down with penetrating oil and took nut off and used a punch that was smaller than the actual diameter then big hammer while someone else twisted it with a wrench took some doing but it came out...
