Default Where do you midwest guys boat?

Just curious, have a possible business proposition that would probably require a move into the midwest (omaha, kansas city, des moines). the thought of having to give up great lakes boating after finally getting back into it makes me sick. i love boating and being on the water, but dont want to have to trailer hours on end for a decent ride/nice water. how about some input from you guys out there.

IF you moved to Kansas City which has the BEST BBQ, you are 2.5 hrs from Lake of the Ozarks (LOTO) and You will have a great time. Take a look at the forum for midwest or LOTO. Good Luck

LOTO is the best midwest boating. LOTO is about 6 hrs from Omaha or DesMoines and about 3 hrs from KC. We go to LOTO about 4 times a year.

Here in Omaha, the only place more than a ski lake is the Missourri River. River levels can vary a lot and so can the amount of debris in the water. It is pretty narrow and muddy, but plenty deep enough. River flooding this year has left 2 of the 3 marinas totally destroyed. It will be a while before they return to normal.

Decent boating in Omaha on the Missouri River, but nothing like the Great Lakes or LOTO. I moved from Omaha to St. Louis and now boat exclusively at LOTO which is about 2.5 hours away.

I live in Ankeny, Ia ( a suburb of Des Moines)
We have a flood control reservior about a mile away.

It's not much, but it gets us on the water.

When we want to really boat, we go to LOTO or over to
Dubuque to the Mississippi river.
