Default New 36 Speedster

Thought I would post a few pics of the boat we are here in Portland to buy. Flew out from Atlanta yesterday to take a ride and check out this 36 Speedster. It is brand new, but a 2008. It was a product of the tough economy. It is so much better in person than in pictures. We go for a ride this afternoon.

Default 36 Center Pod

Yes it does have a pod. I asked about it and they think it makes it more stable. The thing we love about this boat is we can haul it around on the weekends without having to worry about "wide load restrictions". We have to boat on weekends and to not be able to come home Sunday afternoon would kill us. The nice thing about the pod is this thing has a huge cabin we can sleep in and hang out in if we get caught in the rain. We also plane to overnight occasionally and you can get 5 people up front no problem. I am a big tall gut and I can sit up and move around with ease in this boat. I do not want a head and a kitchen, but it is nice to have room to sleep if needed.

That worries me some because it seems the boat will porpoise without playing with it which does not seem right. It is one of the things I noticed on first ride. I am not sure the porpoise can be stopped by driving through it with power, but rather might have to adjust tab to stop bucking. I think this shoud just be used to help it plane. After driving it more, I like the way you can change the attitude of the boat and pick up the front to make it loose if you want to or plant the boat level.

It looks like a true tunnel tab which can be used to pack more air and make the boat pick up speed.
