Default 25 rage w/ 496 HO and ECM upgrade Prop Selection

Does anybody have an idea on what prop would be perfect for the a 496 HO in a 25 rage with an ECM upgrade. The ECM upgrade takes the engine rev up to 5450 from 5200. I have heard that I might actually want to go down to a 22P to take the load off the enine, but I dont know weather to stay with the 24 or go up to a 26 or down to a 22. Has anybody had any experience with this.

nordic runs a 26p bravo on all rages i beleive, not sure i would do the ecm because from what i've heard around here that is only going to hurt your motor in the long run, these motors don't make any additional power over 5100, so why rev it over that? you need to keep rpm's around 5000-5100, run that 24p bravo and get some accurate rpm readings and go from there, seeing your from va i'm thinking you need the 26p

Spot on. A stock 496HO power peak is 5000 - 5100 rpm. That is what you prop for max mph, period.

The upgrade to the ecm was done before I purchased the boat, I will more than likely test out the 26P to see if that gets me right at the 5100 range. Stock the rage comes with a 24P. Appreciate the info, please let me know if anyone has more. All the knowledge helps!

Thanks again

I purchased my Rage with a 24p on it and I would only run 68 (gps) and I would be rev limiter - alarm at 5150. Tested a stock 26p labbed from BBlades and ran around 74, then a 27p spinelli bros and ran 75.
just my experience.

Read my prev post and made an edit: I put stiletto instead of Spinelli Bros prop. Had a couple of beers then

Elevation here on Mississippi river is 572 feet.
Closed bow.
rpm with the BBlades 26p prop was 4700 wot, the Spinelli bros 27p was right around 5000 - 5100 wot. stock gauge so hard to be real accurate on rpms!

These were all 4 blades right? Unfortunatley Spinelli doesnt make props anymore. At least that is what I just read.

Was the 74mph/4700 labbed B26 and the 75mph @5000/5100 Spinelli run with the same gas and boat load, water chop and temp/humidity conditions. If so the Spinelli seems spot on and BBlades could rework the labbed B26 to get the rpm's up. Do both the B26 and the S27 carry the same bow lift vs trim? Check your trim gage reading with the prop shaft axis parallel with the hull pad. That will be neutral trim. Your props should be able to run some positive trim (bow lift) above that which should provide additional mph if not already doing so now. BBlades can modify bow lift by prop rake adjustment and provide more rpms by cup reduction. Call Brett and tell him you need 5000 rpm and discuss options. 4700rpm with a BBlades labbed B26 sounds low to me unless this is during the dog days of summer heat and humidity and/or you are running with passengers or the prop has a lot of added cup already. Lots of potential factors will impact results.
