Where did you hear that? Jim built a 31 at one time but never designed a hull to my knowledge.

I have a friend with a clean 99 31 American Offshore in the classifieds for not much more with alot of extras.

All I know is that when I purchased AO in 98 I was told that a blank 31 AO hull was traded in 1992 to the owner of python ( which is now out of business) for a 26 plug they had made. I needed to know the origin of all the AO boats as a condition of purchase.
