Default 1998 Daytona - What Is Factory Finish?

Greetings:

I have a 1998 27' fundeck that has just developed some slight blisters on the sides of the boat, towards the rear, just below the water line. The bottom seems fine.

I am researching to find the best fix and materials. Could anyone tell me what the FACTORY FINISH on this boat would be? My unqualified guess is gelcoat -vs- base coat / clear coat. I'd like to know if it is gel, did eliminator use a vinyl ester based gel or poly? Again, I'd like to repair with the best possible compatable materials.

You response is both requested and appreciated.

If it is factory it is most likely gelcoat (a pic may help). I have found that calling the factory is the best place to find out what material and brand they use. The people there have always been helpful when I call.
