Hey guys I'm building my 454 and just wondering if I reused my roller lifters do they need to go back in the same hole they came out of I heard if not it will knock a lobe off the cam, is this true. Also one motor had roller lifters and the other did not is that a big deal.

Well, the people that sell the roller lifters claim about 10hp with them. I know the one with the flat lifters need to be back on the same lobe. I've seen used sets of roller lifters for sale. So I am guessing ,no. just a guess.

I doubt you'd wipe a lobe off of a cam, but your lifters may wear faster if you don't put them back in the same order you take them out. I always try to match the parts to where they came out of, but that's just me.
As was mentioned, it's only 10hp. It's not really a huge deal that your other motor doesn't have roller lifters (if you only run one power steering pump you could run it off of the roller motor to balance things out if you really wanted to), but why not fix that while its apart? It's really not that big of an expense while its already torn apart. Also, if you're not going to change the cam on the non-roller motor, at least get new hydrolic lifters that match the cam. They're so cheap that its silly to reuse them, and most good cam kits come with them. That said, if you're going to spend $100 for new flats, why not spend $280ish for rollers?
