Greetings Everybody!
My first post on this forum and I hope to get some help.
I have also posted this on the Nordic Owner section but would like your opinion as well.
This week-end, I hope to conclude the purchase of a new Nordic 22E equipped with a 496HO.
I have studied the various boats available in this size and the Nordic seems to suit better my taste and needs.
The boat looks awesome, the open deck option allows to carry many passengers if required.
The top speed is also something that is an important factor for me. The boat will only be used on a lake and I would be really annoyed to get my butt kicked every time I go for a ride
Can I expect mid 70's MPH with it ?
Anything I should consider before proceeding with the purchase?
Thank you in advance for your input.

Welcome to OSO! I have owned a Nordic for years and they make a great boat. I just came back from Havasu where we had a chance to see their facility. Unbelievable! Don't know what top speed you will get out of the boat with a single 496. Is it a brand new boat or used? Drive it before you buy it. Don't mean to burst your bubble, but it is real hard to be the fastest guy on the water. Somebody will always blow by you and with the boat you are thinking about, many will be able to. Don't worry about that. Get on the water and have a good time. Good luck, Dan

I don't much about the 22E's, but my 25' Rage will run mid 70's just about anyday. It has a 496 HO with Bravo 1 and a 26 P prop. Hope this helps. Like Elimanordic said you won't be the fastest boat on the lake, but might be faster than most.

Just like Indiana mentioned, I dont know anything about the 22E, but with the same power my Hallett 270 mid cabin runs about a half a mph from 70 (gps). So I would "assume" a boat 5 feet shorter and probably a lot lighter would run faster than that.......in theory!

Ive got friends with 25 ft Rage's, 496 Mag HO and they all do about 75. The Heat with a labbed 26P will do 68 with a 496 Mag HO. I would think that a 22 foot boat with the same motor drive package would be up around 80 (in theory). Would it be safe or stable? Thats another question! Fastest on the lake? Doubtful!
