Hello,
Does anyone here know how to decode Baja's HIN #?
#AGC57049E898, Trying to determine what size/model Baja this is.. I'm guessing the 98 is 1998. Boat is stated to be a 31' but I don't recall a 31' and it looks wider, deeper, and longer than my 32' Velocity.
Thanks,
Rick

Correct. That is when the molds would have went into the booth for gelcoat. In other words, the month that the build process started.
AGC stands for Aeroglastics. Every manufacturer receives their own designation from the coast guard.
The next 2 numbers indicate the model IE 57=33ol 64=30ol
The next 3 numbers indicate the specific boat built in that model year. 554=the 554th boat built for that model year for that specific model. Typically 001 was the photo boat.
The next 2 digits are the month and year that the boat was started A=Jan B=Feb 8=98(or 88)
The last 2 digits are the model year of the boat.

Working on a 26 Velocity interior in the shop now. The owner told us the colors he selected, but gave us the go-ahead to do what we wanted to make the design more appealing. I will post the story on that one in the Velocity section.
