gen V 502efi/mpi the oil pan has a plug in the side of the pans, never seen this on the gen VI pans and was wondering if i can just put an oil temp senders in that location for the oil temp gauges that i will be installing. On my old boat i ran the sender in the hp500 oil thermostate housings, but the 502efi dont have them....

There was a post about this same topic in the last week (and every week after) about this same topic.

Everyone and there grandmother have opinions on where to put them. In this post Eddie said he likes to put his in where
a sending unit is.

The entire purpose is no matter where you put them, you are looking for fluctuation in the change. If it runs 220 for weeks on end and then it starts running 240+ you probably have a problem.

I run mine in the blank plug in the oil filter mount..works fine, easy to get to...Rob

I will have to check and see if my filter mounts have extra hole. I figuared that the pans are easy to get too and then temp is right befor it goes back into bearings so it would be the best location...
