My water pickup is on my transom, not sure what advice you're looking for?

No notch, a few inches down off center by half a foot I'd guess. I'm not sure exactly though as the boat's still in storage.

with a single you want to be outside of the prop, so you don't mess the in coming water to the prop, thats why most twins are center vee there away from the prop. I am setting up my 28 saber that way a few inches from the prop and from the chine since mine both run full lenght of the boat. I will run mine as flush. but its adjustable so I can work with it. Bill at Diamond marine has a great price on them.

With your twin, you should mount a double pickup in the center of the V (with no notch)and start with 1/4" hanging below the running surface. Adjust up to lower water pressure.
