I just bought an 08 F-350 6.4 L DRW and pulled with it for the first time last week end. I was told that fuel consumption was a problem point with this motor so my expectations were low but I was a little surprised it was this low. I pull a 382 fastech and it was mostly through town and only got 6.3 mpg! Is there anyone else with a simular set up that can tell me if this is what I can expect.

My 07 PSD (6.0 motor) got around 9.5-10 mpg towing my 382 doing mostly 70-75 mph highway. If I kept it around 60-63 it would jump top around 13mpg. I have 4.10 gears and understand 3.73's would have done about 2mpg better......Maybe you have 4.30's which would kill mileage?????

350 DRW most of the time come with 4:10, 450 most of the time 4:88.
Big difference,
Another thing I have noticed, the 450 only has another 1000Lb (15,000 to 16,000) increase capacity when towing from the back, the big gain comes from 5th wheel or goose neck.
I am interested in other peoples mileage, been looking at these for a while.

I think people missed where he said "mostly in town"... pulling a heavy ass 38' Formula through town and getting around 7mpg is actually pretty damn good for mostly city driving. Stop/Go is killer on fuel.
However, do a dpf delete and regen cancelled out with a tune and you'll see a huge difference in power and a nice bump in mpg on the highway.

ya what he said , and you will stop palluting the internals of the engine with the EGR [slow death] . I did one on a 08 450 cab and chassis with dump box and the whole nine yards truck weighs empty 13000. + , can leave 4 nice black streaks with it now , customer loves it
