Default Water in 24 Outlaw front Compartment in Cuddy, Why??

I have cleaned the water out of this numerous times. It keeps coming back in there and i cannot figure out for the life of me what is going on. I have the vent on the side of the bow for this compartment (Im assuming thats what this vent is for). Anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

I have a 95 24 outlaw also. When I bought the boat 3 years ago I pulled the front panel off in the cuddy at the bow of the boat to tighten the bolts on both front cleats. What I found there is a drain nipple on both of those cleats....only one of mine had a drain hose connected to it. I put a Y in the drain tube on mine. I would assume it was like this from new.

Now mine didn't have any water I noticed but, any of the cleats, bow rail leaking will cause continuous water inside.

Hope this helps.

My 1998 33' outlaw had the y-pipe but was never connected and the hose was too short too. I think they were rushed in manufacturing. They didn’t seal things well; at least with this one. Piss poor construction! But I suspect most manufacturers don’t take great care in verifying proper seals. Anyway water eventually seeped in and years later ROT!
I'm currently rebuilding her from bow to transom. The stringers and balsa core was rotted through. I have pictures of the damage online at http://monsteroffshore.com. She'll be like a brand new boat the way it should have been built. Check your tank too; 6 of the 8 mounts were sheared off – see the pics. When I did the teardown I noticed a lot cheesy glass work too. Stuff you won’t see unless you pull the cap. I also think that this boat was snowed in a few times with no cover. Whoever owned it was a careless dip****.
I not saying your boat is like this but this one was.

Nice site, sucks you had to go through all that. But as somebody that went through the same thing, I don't have too much sympathy for you I spent two years redoing mine.

Doesn't look like the construction improved much from when mine was built and yours was built.

same thing happend in my 24 OL! It is the front pop up cleat scuppers. I think they are supposed to drain out of that little vent on the bow.... Mine is garage kept now so its dry but i need to take a look in case i ever get caught in the rain.

wow! just checked out your pics. that all looks way to familiar, shovels, scrapers, picks, &grinders. after having done the stringers on my 1990 265 dvx/force. It looks like between 90 and 98 that baja didnt change very much of there construction techniques, same bondo crap holding the main peices together, same rubber gas tank mounts, same looking wood, same looking rot areas, waterline up. although it looks like maybe your engine compartment might have been redone once, and yeah all that cracking and inner core damage looks like the result of ice and rot combo like u said. I cut my floor out in 3 peices and didnt seperate the upper and lower hull. I got lucky my transom and inner hull were solid enough everywhere to not have to do all that. I just hope you dont have payments on that 33 like I had on my old 265 while still having to rebuild her.

Do you notice the water after it sits outside? Or after you use the boat? Do you cover the entire boat, or just use a cockpit cover? My buddys boat leaks through the cuddy hatch if he just uses the cockpit cover.

Thanks for the reply guys. It has to be coming through the tie down cleats. I wash my boat about 3 times a week, compulsive i know lol. So it fills up pretty good. I guess i need to take the very front panel from inside the cuddy out and look at these vent lines and see whats going on. Thanks again guys.

I had a 96 Baja 272 the anchor locker hatch would allow water in and then end up below the floor in the cabin. Instead of draining out the bottom of the locker and then outside, it came into the belly of the boat and Rotted the wood from under the floor and i had to cut the old floor out and put new in. I had high lift driver tip the boat back far and the water ran out for about 20 min straight.
