Default Best Prop For Max Speed 28 Scarab Excel, Mildly worked 454

FINALLY! Got my 28 Excel. Took me about 4 years of searching to find a decent one at the right price.

The boat has a mildly worked 454 with headers, bravo one outdrive. Other then that stock.

Looking to get a few more MPH. Wondering what is the best pitch prop to run to get the max out of the boat?

Also any "easy" engine mods I can do? Change carb? Timing?

3 blade? 4 blade? Looking for top end. Thanks!

you will run faster with a 3 blade ( mirage plus ). A 4 blade will get you out of the hole faster and the ride will be great ( bravo 1 ) . What prop are you running know

454 mag. The Previous owner said he was getting about 55. Don't know the type of prop on it now only that it's a 3 blade.

There are numbers stamped into the outside of the prop....tell us what they are.

27 is probably too big for a mild 454. You want to get the RPM's up to about 4900. I'm guessing you're way below that with a 27P. Shsould run around 59 stock or 60 - 61 if upgraded. Stock it came with a 23 three blade
