Getting serious now about buying a boat since the early season rush and price inflation should be calming down a bit. I'm in Michigan on the Saginaw Bay and open to some pretty big freshwater so we are looking for a big open bow. Has to be open bow to keep the wife happy and I'm liking the idea of having all that rooms for friends. I've seen 1995-98 272's in the mid teens, is this is solid deal? It seems like prices are wildly all over the place with some seeming to match NADA prices and others that are double it.
As far as what is important I would really like a Magnum and EFI. Any chance of hitting 60mph with that setup? Is a Bravo III a terrible idea? I have seen them with the BIII and it seems like it would help a lot in getting the boat moving but I don't want to kill the top end.

My 1996 272 came from the factory with a Bravo 3, but I think you'll find that pretty rare! Great handling, but she does go a bit too fast with the throttle all the way back. Can make for some interesting docking.
Works great; I have a 454 Mag and she does just over 60 on GPS. A 502 would get you a little more. Boat has good fuel economy also.
272 is a great boat. Very few complaints with it.

There are like 4 or five relays on the top of the motor. If you feel them while some one turns the key you will be able to figure out witch one you need to check. Simply switch it with one of the other relays(with same part number) to eliminate the relay as your problem!

Still though, for mid teen's does this seem like a solid purchase? 360 hours on the clock isn't a ton, but not brand new either.

I think he was helping me in another post!
Anyway, if the seller is serious, he should provide you some decent pictures.
Ask him if the engine and drive are original, and what is the history of the boat. See if he gives you sketchy answers!

He doesn't seem sketchy at all, just doesn't want to take the time to go to the boat and take more pictures. I can't see myself driving 800 miles to pick something up if the guy can't even show me what I'm coming to see.
Said he bought it a couple years ago, hated the color scheme, and immediately had it changed. The work looks good from the small pictures he has posted. Said he had a Corsa thru hull put in as well, no captains choice though so the wife might not be real happy with that. He did say that his son does email for him, that he otherwise doesn't deal with that at all. I just don't think he really knows how.

Try and get a 97 or newer as they changed something in the build process if memory serves, there was also a barrier coat issue under the gel, also the interiors and dash changed for 97.
No, on the bravo III unless you tube, ski and cruise alot,,,,,and it should run in the low/mid 60's with a mag

No on the B3? My 272 will do 63 (GPS) with it's B3, and jump out of the water faster than almost anything I've seen, incredibly smooth drivetrain, and uses less gas than anybody I know with a B1. Also has amazing marina/docking/reverse control.
Not sure I see the downside...... well, except when I hit that rock and had 2 props to rebuild..... lol
