Hello, Beem trying to figure this guage problem out and wondered if anyone could help? I bought a nearly new 21 Cougar MTR with a 300xs Merc. The tach has been way off since new, and the pervious owner talked with Cougar about it, They sent him a new analog to digital converter box (never installed till now) It did nothing, reads the same as before. It says motor is running 8 grand, but no smartcraft warnings whistles or shut-downs. I called cougar and asked about the settings at the rear of tach, Anybody know where it should be set?? there are four different notchs. I have tried both on left side, thats at 10 and 8 oclock. One reads way high, and the other is way low. Today I tried at 2 oclock position and it appears the closes its been. any ideas guys?? Thanks! Honk

im not a outboard guy but if its a v6 i wouls assume you would set it on 6 cyl..call gaffrig and ask for mike,they are good to deal with and wont lay you over the coals like livorsi..
