upper 70s with more left in it??
I take it the engine have had work done to them or thats speedo non GPS speeds..

stick with the 280 Kplanes and add hydraulic steering...290s do like to chine walk at higher speeds..no fix for it..they have a rocker built into the hull right in front of the tabs which adds to the chine walk but helps with porposing..

yes - i bought the boat off of here last winter out of long island. i was told the motors were built by oean offshore, in conneticut?? they run great, very strong sounding! i went through all the external parts to keep it fresh.
Is there any thing in can do to stop the chime walk?
I found a pair of 380 k planes, what you think?

I'd like to see that kinda speed! I'm running stock 502's with only 23p 3 blades, and the best I've seen on GPS is 71. I do see some chime walk if I'm not trimmed just right on the top end, and depending on water conditions I can get it to settle down.

thats sounds about right 71-72 mph on GPS with 502...23 pitch props...

somewhere I have the PowerQuest test results from the mid 90s when I bought my 1st new 290 and it shows 64-66 with 7.4s...66-69 with 454 mags and 70 to 72 with 502mpi..

lol i will have to wait until next season to snap a pic of the gps - i know you dont believe me , but the boat runs that. The motors a built strong! Before i put it away, i will take a pic of the motors, and drives -
It doesnt tell whats inside, but trust me, they are BUILT!
i know you " boatnt" know a ton about PQ - help me out ! lol
Do you think 380 kplanes will help?
Can i have someone work on the bottom of the boat?

No sorry if I coming off like I dont believe you..I have NO reason not too.Iam serious when I say you must have the fastest PQ 290...Its cool to have a 290 that reaches those speeds..

as far as the chine walking ....Ive owned 3 290s and also have friends that own them and they all sometime chine walk pretty bad...it almost feels like they want to ride on the rub rail...lol...at time you can drive through it at times you cant..

I think one of the main reason is that rocker/shingle thats built into the hull right in front of the trim tabs..at higher speeds it lifts the stern too high and your riding too much on the bottom of the V of the hull..kind like you walking a straight line one foot in front of the other,as soon as you loose your balance you lean from side to side trying to balance again..not sure if you understand what Iam trying to say but that the best I could explain it..

again sorry if I sounded like I didnt believe you...290s are great/strong boats..

I like to think of them as a Lexus and not a Porsche..they may not be the fastest but they get you there in style
