Question Flywheel/flexplate

Trying to purchase as much as I can for repower before old sbc comes out. #1; How do I tell if I need a wheel or plate?. #2 How to tell if it is 153 or 168 tooth. New bow 1183 tie block. Thanks in advance for all replies. R.

merc use 168 tooth manual trans flywheels

It's also going to depend on what your building. Will need either internal or external balanced flywheel and harmonic balancer.

Something I had heard before is you need the heavier steel flywheel or you may have problems with killing the engine when you shift it in gear.
