Just curious. I know with the Crane I can. Looking to upgrade this winter.

Don't know what distributor your talking about but most likely. They can trigger from breaker points, amplifiers, or magnetic pickups. However a 6AL is not a recommended marine box. You would want a 6M-2L.

go to MSD's website, pull up the instructions for that box, shows dist's that work and how to wire them...

Thanks I didn't even think to check their website. I'm aware the make a marine box. People seem to have a lot of issues with them. I personally have never had an issue with the 6 or 7 on any of my cars. I was talking with a builder the other day and he said some have converted to the 6AL and have had no problems since. Looking for some Crane hi6 but might pursue the MSD this winter.

I used the 6 al w mercury distributor for years with no issues.
Its still on my old boat. Around 6 or 7 years with lots of use.

supposedly this is the same box as cranes but a whole lot better..
its hard to trigger a msd box with a merc distributor but i know how to get areoub it..
