Check out Nordic's New 28SS Cat... this single engine cat was designed by Thane Tiemer the same tooler that designed most of the Daytona Series... This cat with a single engine 1350 HP at lake of the Ozarks ran 141mph and they also have one with a Teague 800HP that runs 116mph!

I'm looking to purchase a single engine cat. I know their is a wealth of knowledge and experience on the board and would like to draw from it. My criteria for "best" would be safety (predictable ride at all speeds), quality of build, value, speed, and functionality (a reasonable day boating with family and friends). The first and only boat I've ever owned was a Checkmate 259 Convincor (for reference) and I loved it.

how would any of these center pod cat run when a 2 to 3 foot boat wake" roller " come's at them ?
i ask this because every video you see of any of these boats are in flat " glass like " water and where i boat there is never a day that the water is that flat .

the rpm is nice and on there website it say's there coming out with a 30 footer

The main reason single engine cats are designed with a certer pod is it gives the builder a place inside the hull to mount the engine/oil pan, and drive, with a much lower CG. There are other performance enhancements too. They carry weight better, particularly at midrange speeds, they acellerate better because they have more hydrodynamic lift at slow and midragne speeds, and porpoise very little. If you look at the newer (I call them gen 3 designs) Nordics, Eliminators, RPMs, and DCBS, they all have elevated center pods, that ride completely free at high speed, so you get the best of both worlds.
There are very few single engine cats with no center pod. It makes for a much higher CG, and very high drive mounting. The center pod also gives the drive some protection from rough water. As for their rough water handling, they seem about the same as "true" tunnels of their own length.
