Default Relocating Water Pressure Line

When I upgraded my guages last winter the new water pressure gauge came with about a 1/16th line that I installed at the drain plug on the engine. The old one was about a 2/8th line that was also attached to the drain plug. Anyhoo, when I winterize this year I found the line was totally clogged with rust and crap. Would like some suggestions/opinions on where would be the best place to relocated the line/fitting on the engine (gen6 502) that will minumize the clogging problem. Thanks...

That's exactly what I'm thinking. With the obvious drawbacks to the original location...I'm wondering why they (boatbuilders) install them there in the 1st place.

Some oil coolers have drain plugs on them. Ive used them for water psi gauge lines with no problems.

i use a 1/8 inch line from the back of the intake manifold,i also run #3 line from back waterports on intake manifold overboard to eleviate any possibility of steam pockets in the block.
