As of January 3, 2012, the U.S. DOT prohibits commercial drivers from
using a hand-held mobile telephone while operating a commercial vehicle.
Drivers who violate the restriction face federal civil penalties of up to
$2,750.00 for each offense and disqualification from operating a
commercial motor vehicle for multiple offenses.
Additionally, states will suspend a driver's license (CDL) after two or more
such serious traffic violations.
Commercial carriers that allow their drivers to use hand-held cell phones
while driving will face a maximum penalty of $11,000.00,

Bingo. I have a CDL Class A, driven plenty. No room for error with 80,000 pounds behind you. I think the law should apply to every driver. Commuting 100 miles/day, it is amazing to see how many people are spitting time between the road and their iPhone. F*^@%g dangerous.
