Default Single Blower Carb

Does a vacuum secondary carb work in boosted applications? Seems like it would be better atleast under no boost conditions / low RPMs up to 4k?

Why are the Merc carbs not boost referenced? Is boost reference newer technology. Would the Merc non boost referenced carb generally be overly rich compared to a boost referenced carb?
