Default Merc.,Maximus 15 5/8 Dia, 5 blade, 30 pitch

would like some opinions before changing props. My buddies boat is an older cat, just installed procahrgers and boat is running of the chip at 6000 rpm's, estimated power 775 to 800, 1.36 ratio drive.
Want to run around 5600 rpm WOT.
He tried my 32 6 blade Herrings and could not get on plane, trying to get a benchmark.
My thoughts are to go to a 34 pitch Maximus
The Maximus where the best props to get on plane in the past.
Any thoughs

Thanks Joe

If you spin the Maximus at 5600 you will be in the 115mph range.

6 blade Herings have ton of stern lift among other possible planing issues. Maximus props can be a much better prop for getting on plane. There are other issues to concider as well such as rotation.

Do you have previous performance data?

We offer Maximus propellers for testing at a small $45 fee per prop for 15 days of testing. Call and we can discuss many issues.

Thanks You for reply, boat had 650 to 670 hp on a conservative dyno @ 5600 rpm with the 30, before the prochargers,
The props where new and will try to sell, right now just wondering and we will call when we get close to launch time.

Of course you can call when you are ready to test.

If you were going to run the engines to 6000, you could use the previous propellers (30's?)

If you are running at 5600, you will only need to go up 2 inches of pitch with that HP increase.
