Going from Old Gaffrig to Livoris with Deutchs connectors
#1
I bought a new set of Livorsi gauges with these new connectors. I pulled my panel today to take a peak ( Boat is a stock 1997 Scarab 29) The wires are all ring terminaled on the original gagues and the colors are not the same as the new connectors. This is not really a big deal but what Im not sure of is the original wiring is a lot thicker than the wires on the new connectors.
Anybody done a swap to these new connectors and if so what did you use to connect the wires? Solder? Or is there a splice connector worth using??

I swapped out from ring terminal to the duetch connectors on my twin setup 2 years ago. I used their crimp/solder/heat shrink/sealed connectors. Just crimp the connector on the wire, hit it with a heat gun, the solder in the connector melts, the heat shrink-shrinks and the adhesive (like hot glue) inside the heat shrink melts. At the end of the process you have a crimped/soldered/heatshrinked/sealed connection that was quick and easy. There are instances when I had to use 2 wires in with 1 wire out; I think it was for the ground. It took a few hours but it was fast clean and neat. Get a pair of good quality wire strippers and crimpers; it makes the job so much easier. I had no problems with the connections, all the gauges worked with no issues or loose connections the first time. I bought a couple of hundred various types and sizes of butt connectors and terminal ends and have used over half of them up for various projects. A little pricey but super easy and fast to use; just buy variety of sizes, you'll be amazed how easy they are to use and where else you'll end up using them.
