There is an article on exactly this in one of the boating magazines at the news stands.

The areas they choose to look at made it a 50/50 either way for the two but the most important areas of boating, speed, fuel burn, and such went to the propellers. The jet got on plane marginally faster but was slower and burned way more fuel.
