Default Baja 232 prop help

I have a 97 232 running the 310hp 7.4L. When I bought the boat it came with a 21p M+ that I believe has been labbed.... that blades are much thinner and its lighter than the M 23p I bought.

Anyways I was spinning that 21p to 5100rpms @ 53ish mph GPS. I know that is overrevving the motor. So I bought a 23p Mirage standard and tried that out. I got 4800rpms @ 56mph GPS. With either prop when I barely trim up at WOT I get porpoising.

The 23p M cruises much better, I get a good 40mph out of 3500rpms and it rides great. The 21p M+ cruised a little slower and I had a lot of porpoising at cruise even.

I like the cruise of the 23p M but I feel like 4800rpms is still a tad much? I think 4600 is more where I should be? Also I think my slip # at WOT are a little high. Should I try a 4 blade?

Also I do not have tabs.

Look on your motor, there should be an operating range. For instance my 502 is 4600-5000 RPMs. You want to prop the boat to run at the max rpm end of the recommended RPMs.

I'm just getting myself familiar with all this, too, but hope that helps some.

Just did a quick search and your motor is 4200-4600 WOT RPMs according to that link.

We can modify your 23 Mirage Plus to drop the rpm and carry the bow better.
Call us if you desire and we can explain the processes.

Thank you,
Brett
