The Bulldog rack style jack just broke on my trailer, I need some input: Should I replace it with the same jack, or put on a nice swivel jack?

I'd repair that one if its done what youve expected of it over the years. Its still in good working order right ? As far as the swivel jacks....my advice to you is to ONLY buy the one that swivels with the pin going thru the pipe (you weld the short piece of pipe on to the trailer, then the jack swivels on that). Do NOT get the one that swivels with a "c" clip on the end. I had the "c" clip come off one time...and the trailer came down and just missed crushing my feet.

You could put just about any A-frame trailer jack in there. I'd reinforce it with some additional steel though. Pretty easy fix.

Problem is, I need the lift of the rack jack. And the rack I think is good, but the jack mechanism broke some teeth off internally, and its welded completely to the trailer. I'be thought about using one of the Fulton all aluminum F2 with the dual wheels.

Why do you need the wheels ? You can't roll your boat around by hand can you ? Also, the wheels don't work too well if the trailer is on any kind of uneven surface. I don't know of any decent sized trailers with wheels on the jack. Its not like you can just push it around like a utility trailer. Also, you may be able to get parts for your jack. Look up the manufacturer on line sir...and call them. They may even recommend something else.

If you have to go to the trouble of cutting the old one off I would put on a electric jack .

I have the F2 and really like it. much more solid feeling than any other cylinderical side jack I have tried. It does not have a tendency to bend as bad when tugging it a little like most round tube jacks.

From OP signature, he only has a 23' boat so a straight jack is not a necessity.
The wheel does allow more tug alignment to the ball, especially nice if hitching alone.
A wheel also makes moving an unloaded trailer easier.
Finally, with the swing down jack, it is much faster to hitch / unhitch.

OP trailer looks like it is greater than 4" channel but the plate can be turned sideways and bolted direct (or welded)
