A 28 Powerplay single fits the bill perfect, handles rough great and is light.

However, only 3 were built!

So more realistically a 25 AT, 28 Pantera (probably a single to keep weight down) etc would be good choices.

Pretty much any 25-29' performance boat with a single screw. Pantera, Fountain, Sunsation, Powerplay, Formula, Warlock, Kryptonite, Phantom etc...

The 1/2 ton trucks can vary quite a bit on towing capacity based on engine, axle, and towing equipment options. I would determine that first prior to your search if you are looking to keep the truck. That'll help narrow your search, too.

Find the tow rating of your truck then weigh the boat and trailer together. A good rule of thumb is keep the rig weight between 300-500lbs under your truck's tow rating to account for fuel, water and other necessities for the day.

I am towing with a 1997 Tahoe, 1/2 ton. I have a 260 Velocity (really a 24-ft hull though) and am at the peak of my towing capacity. 3990 pound boat, plus trailer and gas puts me a bit above the 5500 pound tow limit. Thats with an aluminum trailer. Gotta figure all that in...... Your towing capacity can't be to much more then mine.

I added extra spring loaded shocks, tranny cooler and brakes to assist with my towing though.

I have a 24 pantera single outboard that is WAY under your 40K mark, good condition, but old, Like any 30+ year old boat it requires some maintenance.
